6600 Sunset Boulevard is a 22,000 SF mixed use urban infill project and includes the historic preservation of a 1926 Churrigueresque style 11,000 SF commericl building.
The project includes eight housing/live/work units, restaurants, retail, and office uses, and underground parking. Public courtyards serve the commerical and residential uses at different levels and generous private terraces extend the interior spaces of the residential units. The project is designed to intensify street life at the sidewalk and courtyard levels and take advantage of spectacular views to downtown LA, the Hollywood Hills, and Baldwin Hills for the residential units.
The Sunset Boulevard facade of the new building takes compositional and proportional cues from the historic building without resorting to architectural kitsch or mimicry. An independent identity is established for the new building that is respectful of and related to its historic neighbor.
